Born from the vision of siblings Antonia Yasmina and Fouad Giacomo Filali, the Fiermonte Museum houses the family’s private collection. It celebrates the memory of their grandmother Antonia Fiermonte—violinist, painter, and inspiring muse—and her brother Enzo Fiermonte, a famed boxer and Hollywood actor.

The Story: A Saga of Love and Art Between Paris and Salento

In the 1930s, a young Antonia Fiermonte left Puglia for Paris, where she became the wife and muse of French sculptor René Letourneur, a leading figure of the Art Déco movement. Her beauty and temperament also captivated René’s closest friend, sculptor Jacques Zwobada, sparking a tempestuous and creative bond of art and romance.

Following Antonia’s untimely passing, the story acquired new layers of fascination when her daughter Anne married the son of an influential Islamic law judge in Fez. Over half a century later, her grandchildren resolved to bring this extraordinary heritage back “home”: antique furnishings, historic heirlooms, bronze sculptures, sensual sketches, and watercolors that now engage in a silent dialogue with grand Apulian architecture.

An Immersive Museum and 4 Thematic Suites

Located just 50 meters from La Fiermontina Luxury Home, the museum offers an immersive exhibition route where Letourneur’s marble blocks and Zwobada’s bronzes come alive alongside photographic archives, original notebooks, and 3D documentary films.

The true enchantment of the residence lies in the opportunity to experience art firsthand: the museum conceals 4 thematic suites (toned in shades of cobalt blue, deep red, teal, and dusty rose) dedicated respectively to Music, Cinema, Sculpture, and Painting.

Most of the furniture in the Fiermonte Museum Suites is 18th-century or selected for its originality and extravagance, appropriate to the period. Two panels were hand-painted by a Moroccan artist and depict the dome and rose window of the Islamic Museum of Doha. There are also furnishings from the 1950s to 1980s, all sourced from antique dealers, such as the glass-topped table, the black lacquered chairs, and the pendant and table lamps. There are also some pieces by renowned designers, such as the small console table by Gio Ponti in the Nocturne Suite or the cast-glass bedside tables in the Avant-Garde Suite, designed by French interior designers Charles-Philippe and Christophe of Laboratoire Design in Rabat.

The Fiermontina Experience: Fine Dining and Historic Mansions

Staying at the Fiermonte Museum grants full access to the amenities of La Fiermontina collection, comprising two other historic properties located within 300 meters of each other: La Fiermontina Luxury Home, a 17th-century masseria with 19 rooms and suites set within an olive grove featuring a pool and the Zéphyr restaurant; and La Fiermontina Palazzo Bozzi Corso, an 1775 residence offering 10 suites, a private garden, and a panoramic rooftop bar.

The Secret

The mother of the current owners, Anne—daughter of Antonia Fiermonte—is a prominent figure in avant-garde cultural circles. She met Yoko Ono at the memorial to John Lennon, “Strawberry Fields Garden,” which Anne created with her in New York’s Central Park. As a further tribute, they also published an art book in which various 20th-century artists paid homage to Lennon and his vision. Many of his works are on display in the halls of La Fiermontina Palazzo Bozzi Corso and also in the John & Yoko suite, which houses John Lennon’s drawings donated by Yoko Ono to the Filali family.
