Ceretto Wineries
The wonderlands created by the Ceretto family, pioneers of the Langhe-Roero top-notch wines

The history of the Ceretto family is intertwined with that of the Langhe-Roero region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2014. Here, they have created not only extraordinary wines, from Barolo to Nebbiolo, but also a gastronomic and cultural hub that boasts a three-Michelin-star restaurant.
The history of the Ceretto family is one of a long-standing love for the Langhe, a passion that began with great pioneering vision when Riccardo Ceretto started producing wine in 1937.
The turning point coincided with the entry of his sons Bruno and Marcello into the company, bringing with them innovative thinking for the time, drawing inspiration from what was happening across the Alps in Burgundy and thus realizing the potential of native vineyards. A great dream inspired them: to bring the wines of their hills to the same table as the greats of France.

Love guides us in every decision: we are patrons of the arts, producers of nougat, storytellers, and wine merchants, all in the name of the Langhe.

So they began selecting and purchasing lands in the most suitable and historically best areas, focusing on the French cru concept, among the first one to do so in the Langhe, making wine only from estate-owned vineyards, which achieved organic certification in 2015.
Another revolution occurred in the 1980s when Ceretto first introduced Blangè, a refined white in a land of reds. It quickly established itself, shaping an entire region, Roero, which began to stand out internationally for white wines.

Three generations and 180 hectares of vineyards in the Langhe and Roero regions later, in the 2000s the family began producing the renowned Piedmont IGP hazelnuts of the highest quality, founding the artisanal Relanghe factory, producing also torroni and gianduja. They then expanded into restaurants thanks to a meeting with chef Enrico Crippa and in 2005 they inaugurated Piazza Duomo in Alba’s main square, the first 3-Michelin-starred restaurant in Piedmont.
A love for the land has always been intertwined with a passion for contemporary art, exemplified today by the so-called “Cappella del Barolo”, an ancient chapel in Brunate, which artists David Tremlett and Sol LeWitt have transformed into a colorful installation (expecting reopening at the end of 2026).

Over the years, this commitment to art has materialized in high-profile exhibitions, bringing international artists—such as Anselm Kiefer, Francesco Clemente, Kiki Smith, Marina Abramovic, and Patti Smith—to exhibit in a town as unusual for them as Alba.
The Ceretto world is comprised of four distinct wineries—Tenuta Monsordo Bernardina, the company’s headquarters in Alba; Bricco Asili in Barbaresco; Bricco Rocche in Castiglione Falletto; and I Vignaioli di Santo Stefano in Santo Stefano Belbo—which produce 20 labels, nine of which are from the MGAs of Barolo and Barbaresco.

You can book a guided tour with wine tasting of Tenuta Monsordo Bernardina, that includes the visit of Acino (grape), the famous panoramic grape-shaped balcony overlooking the Langhe.
So much history, so much soul, so much beauty within the Ceretto world.
