At the summit of Plan de Corones, three-Michelin-starred chef Norbert Niederkofler has created a culinary experience at 2,235 meters above sea level, where the panorama of the Dolomites is the secret ingredient of every dish.

Located inside the futuristic Lumen Museum building, in the former mountain station of the Brunico cable car, AlpiNN, inaugurated in 2018 and recently renovated, is the beating heart of the “Cook the Mountain” philosophy, an approach that celebrates Alpine biodiversity and extreme seasonality.

A pioneer of sustainable cuisine, Norbert Niederkofler, following the success of St. Hubertus and the opening of Atelier Moessmer in Brunico, tells a story of local producers, respect for natural cycles, and a love of roots in every dish.

Evolution for me means continuing to tell the story of the mountains with new eyes, without ever losing touch with their deep roots.

The design: a panoramic loung of loden and larch

The aesthetic of AlpiNN, designed by Martino Gamper, is a tribute to South Tyrolean craftsmanship, reinterpreted with contemporary lines.

The ceiling is covered in loden panels, a traditional Tyrolean fabric, which guarantees muffled acoustics and an ancestral warmth, while the floors are made of larch wood from the Aurina Valley, a modern reinterpretation of the classic parquet flooring found in traditional stube rooms, as are the chairs, which reinterpret the seats of old inns.

The three souls of AlpiNN

The restaurant’s evolution today encompasses three distinct spaces, each designed to connect guests with the surrounding nature:

The View: A Window on the Peaks
Opened in 2026, The View is the most exclusive space. Only eight tables face the glass for an intimate experience. Here, you can savor the best of Niederkofler and Executive Chef Matteo Gecchele’s cuisine.
Don’t miss the legendary Graukäse Risotto and the Salt-Crusted Hay Fillet and the wine pairing by Sommelier Valeria Hinna Danesi who curates a selection of labels that showcase the mountain’s heroic terroir.

The Lounge: Aperitif at High Altitude
A welcoming area with an enveloping atmosphere, furnished by Uno Più. It’s the perfect place for a quick stop between ski runs or for an aperitif at sunset. Here, chef Matteo Gecchele offers original tapas paired with sophisticated cocktails, often accompanied by live music and artistic performances.

Food Space & Terrace
The Food Space is the convivial hub of the venue, a lively bistro where sharing is the watchword, always in keeping with the “Cook the Mountain” philosophy.

The Secret

Before or after AlpiNN, you can visit the Lumen Museum, which celebrates the mountains through the lenses of the world’s greatest photographers. The beating heart of the museum is the Shutter, an imposing circular opening that opens and closes like the shutter of a camera, framing the surrounding peaks in an ever-changing natural landscape.
